How to provide for effectiveness of a non pharmacological intervention?
iCEPS Conference Montpellier 2013
Corum of Montpellier, France
April 5, 2013
Non pharmacological interventions, diet advice, dietary supplements, physical activity program, kinesiology method, body care, psychological intervention, psychotherapy, health education, health behaviour change program, serious game, have become necessary solutions to improve the life span and quality of life of people with chronic disease and those at risk.
Pilot studies state their benefits including economic and social status.
Nevertheless, these observations are not scientific evidence, just proofs of concept. Evidence are needed to provide the real contribution of these intervention using a specific method, randomized control trials (RCTs). But this methodology is subject for debate and this is the goal of the Conference.

Scientific and practical interests
The conference highlights the non-pharmacological innovations, whether human or technological. It offers a place of ethical and methodological issues. Internationally renowned experts are invited. The six workshops are practical solutions and open up prospects for employment and innovation. The exhibit hall invites participants to discover the activities of partners and jobs in the sector. Spaces of conviviality are provided to facilitate exchanges between researchers and professionals.
Thus, the iCEPS Conference 2013 is part of the long tradition of Montpellier in health domain and multidisciplinary research.

Organisation
The research unit Epsylon is dedicated to understand health behavioral change and provide evidence of effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of non pharmacological intervention. The unit gathers 160 persons, notably 47 researchers: medicine, philosophy, psychology, psychiatry, sociology and sport sciences. Epsylon operates several trials attempting to verify effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of non pharmacological intervention.
Epsylon had created with partners a methdological platform dedicated to determine the effectveness and cost/effectiveness of health prevention programs and non pharmacological interventions, iCEPS plaform.
